Our History

A historic landmark in the heart of Charlotte, NC

Nestled on over 100 acres of picturesque farmland, The 1932 Barn is more than just a venue - it’s a piece of North Carolina history. The property originally dates back to 1908, when the historic farmhouse was built by EW Hodges. Recognized on both the National and Local Historic Registries, the farm has been lovingly preserved through four generations of the Hodges family, making it a true testament to heritage and tradition. In addition to its historic significance, the farm has been honored as a North Carolina Century Farm, a designation celebrating its 100 years of continuous operation by the same family.

In the 1930's, the Hodge's family built The 1932 Barn as a mule barn. They used mules for farm work and hauling before tractors and vehicles were an option. Sadly, in 1989, Hurricane Hugo hit Charlotte, leaving the barn badly damaged. Due to it's disrepair, the barn was then used for storage up until 2014 - when Mike and Lori Diefenbach partnered with The Hodges Family to lovingly restore and transform it into the stunning wedding venue you see today. Every detail of the property reflects the care and dedication of generations past, offering guests a truly unique experience filled with authenticity, beauty, and history.
